Since March 2012, Guy, Lucy and Jocelyn (with the help of many collaborators, funding from Brighton University, and support from Policy Connect and the V&A) have been co-ordinating a series of talks around Social Design. These have happened roughly once a month in various venues around London.
The goals of the Social Design Talks at the outset were to:
- Reflect critically on the spread of socially-motivated design practice and the use of ‘design thinking’ with social innovation and public policy
- Bring together, in a hopefully fruitful way, people working in adjacent areas, including project managers in public policy, social enterprise and innovation, and civic society, policy-makers, elected representatives, researchers, activists and designers
This research project follows on from, and draws on, the learnings of this Talks series, and the Talks will continue as we pursue our research.
